WFCA plc evolved from the merger in April 2008 of WFCA Integrated Limited, a Tunbridge Wells based full service agency and Ekay plc, an AIM listed marketing Communication Group. As WFCA provided the majority of services within the expanded Group and accounted for the overwhelming proportion of Group income, the name of the holding entity was accordingly renamed to reflect this change.
WFCA Integrated Limited was founded in 1996 and from an unspectacular beginning enjoyed significant growth in the mid ‘noughties’ culminating in it being recognised in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 in both 2006 and 2007. The decision to acquire an AIM listing reflected the desire to create a regional based marketing communications Group throughout the UK and to enable the Group to expand its breadth of services via strategic acquisitions.
While the WFCA Group spent the initial years after floatation consolidating its position, it completed its first strategic acquisition in July 2011 when it purchased fellow Tunbridge Wells based agency Williams Blake Rae. WBR is a specialist Pharmaceutical agency and allowed the Group to service clients outside its traditional heartland of FMCG and retail. The Group anticipates further strategic activity moving forward and actively seeks corporate alliances.
